Situated along Namibia's central coast and only 10km from Walvis Bay, lies Dune 7, the highest dune in the coastal dune belt. Dune 7 is perfect for sandboarding. It is approximately 130m high and has a steep slip-face consisting of soft powder like sand, which makes it ideal for sandboarding. A quad bike is used to shuttle boarders to the top of the dune after they have careened to the bottom of Dune 7. The concept is basically that of a ski-lift, except for the fact that there is no lift and no snow. So it's not at all like a ski-lift (except for the concept) – but you get our drift …
The Namib is not only the oldest desert in the world, but it also boasts some of the highest dunes – ideal if you get a kick out of shredding mountains of sand, which is exactly what sandboarding is all about.
All gear, drinks, fruit and the quad bike are supplied. A personal guide will provide superb instructions to get you zooming down-hill in no time – whether you are a beginner or an expert.
This is undoubtedly the most fun you can have with sand!
