Sandwich Harbour 4x4
After a sit-down picnic lunch that includes a selection of snacks, salads, breads, fresh fruit, and white wine and drinks, the homeward route will test the power of the vehicles in the dunes, the highlight being a 45m-high roaring dune before our return to Walvis Bay.
The tour departs in 4-wheel drive vehicles from Walvis Bay, with a first stop at the Lagoon to view the masses of birds that live in one of the biggest natural wetlands in the southern Hemisphere. The drive down to Sandwich Harbour takes in the Kuiseb river delta, a dry river bed where the odd springbok may still roam, with the vehicles continuing along the beach until a natural fresh-water lagoon is reached.
Visitors can walk along the length of this lagoon, taking in the magical scenery of sky-high dunes with an even more varied bird life living in the fresh waters.
Please note that if vehicles cannot drive along the beach to get to Sandwich Harbour due to high tides, clients will have to walk about 1 to 2 km to reach the fresh-water lagoon.
This tour can be combined with the Dolphin Cruise and then becomes a full-day tour.
